Dr. Derek Gottlieb
Bio
Dr. Gottlieb is the Senior Research Director at the firm School Perceptions. Previously, he was an Associate Professor of Education at the University of Northern Colorado. As a member of many academic organizations, including the Association of Education Finance and Policy and the American Educational Research Association, he continues to study issues related to local governance, school finance, and stakeholder engagement.
Education
Dr. Gottlieb holds two doctoral degrees. He earned a PhD in Education at the University of Iowa in 2013. His dissertation was entitled "Race to the Top and the Senses of Good Teaching." He also earned a Ph.D. in English Literature from the University of Basel in 2014. That dissertation was entitled "Common Nonsense: Community and Skepticism in Shakespeare's Comedy."
Both dissertations were later edited into book form and published by Routledge Press.
